Our online show RESPONSIVE PAINTING is an exciting collection of paintings. These small gems are the artist's pure, fresh response to their impressions of the moments and places in their lives.
Katya Walker's sketch paintings are the quick response to the beauty that Katya encounters in her daily life; while teaching her plein air classes on the Palos Verdes Peninsula, exploring Red Rock Canyons in the Mojave Desert, embracing the challenge of painting a live nude model in short poses, or reflecting on the subtle light in a nocturne.
Ben Haggett's paintings are an energetic, undiluted response to what he sees, be it the bread on the table or the shadow gently falling across the ridge line while high up in the mountains of Montana. Ben's ability to capture the emotional impact and simplicity of a scene in pure painting is a rare gift that is visceral in its
effect.
The rush of nature and light, the movement of a wave ~ All these glorious moments are captured by the exquisite and astute observation of modern
masters of responsive painting Katya Walker and Ben Haggett.
